The 2025 legislative session served as a foundational year for State Representative John Gaskey. Transitioning from 23 years of distinguished service in the U.S. Coast Guard, Rep. Gaskey established himself as an advocate who refuses to settle for "business as usual." His first year was defined by a mission-first approach to constituent service, fierce defense of constitutional rights, and a deep commitment to the people and traditions of Carver, Wareham, and Middleborough.

During a brutal January cold snap, he personally intervened to secure emergency shelter for a pregnant woman living in her car, bypassing bureaucratic delays to get her the streets before the life-threatening storm hit. This standard of direct advocacy continued throughout the year:

He successfully advocated for two hard-working individuals whose driver's licenses were suspended and more than 100 constituents in navigating the state's unemployment system, ensuring families received the benefits they were owed.

Rep. Gaskey presided over award ceremonies for Career First Responders and participated in award and promotion ceremonies for State Troopers and Corrections Officers residing within the district.
Veterans Advocacy
From the Wareham Veterans Day Parade and the South Meadow Village Veterans Breakfast to the Middleborough Memorial Day Ceremony, Rep. Gaskey remained a tireless champion for those who served. He worked directly with local veterans to navigate federal and state systems to obtain the benefits they earned.
